| MTF has a state of the art Fitness Center with the latest weight machines, rowers and stationary bikes. Every full time rider undergoes extensive testing at the beginning of the year and goals are set for cardio conditioning, core strength and flexibility. Each individualized program is designed using the periodization model so riders are at their peak for their most important races of the year. We focus on the following areas: Cardivascular Conditioning
Cardiovascular conditioning is the foundation for any endurance athlete to build on. Without a strong heart and lungs supplying oxygen to the muscles it is impossible to compete with today’s top riders. At MTF we record heart rates during on-trackand off track training and we regularly take measures of each rider’s lactate threshold. Then we design a program to best fit each rider's needs. Circuit training is a hybrid of both cardio and strength training. Performed correctly it can help train an athlete for optimum muscular endurance. Probably some of the most intense workouts at MTF involve this style of exercise and each circuit is set up so that it works the same muscles you will use on the track. Used in the proper sequence circuit training exercises push our athletes to the extreme in a controlled environment without the risk of injury.
Flexibility A tight and short muscle has the tendency to cramp and pump up more often and flexibility training is a key component of our program. Not only does a longer and looser muscle perform better but it also can prevent injury. Full time riders receive comprehensive warm-up and cool-down sessions from our training staff both at MTF and national race events.
Strength Training
Strength training at MTF is an important part of every rider’s fitness program. It used to be that riders didn’t want to train with weights because they thought it would ‘pump them up’ but the ways of old are gone and a new age of motocross training is here. We test and train our athletes to peak at just the right time so they are ready to race. We have the latest weight machines and free weights that help ensure our riders are strong enough to handle any situation. Even with a well designed program it can take years to develop the strength needed.
