Everyone at MTF would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of 18 yr old Michael Doherty who was tragically killed in a car crash. Mike had made a great impression on everyone at MTF when he attended a Spring camp week and we all remember his great passion for the sport and dedication to improving his skills. Mike lived for motocross and the motocross community has lost one of its own.
Mike’s parents, Mike and Lisa, have chosen to honor his passion for motocross by creating a scholarship fund to send a rider from the Massachusetts area to an MTF One Week camp. The person selected will be a C class rider who will have demonstrated a passion for the sport similar to Mike's. More details will be announced shortly.

Mike and Lisa Doherty, parents of Mike jr., are donating a motocross scholarship to a 125 C group rider that has shown a true passion for the sport similar to Mike Doherty jr. Mike cherished his time in motocross, both on and off the track. This year the rider has been chosen by Mike's parents but next year the top 5 points riders will be asked to write a small essay about what motocross means to them. Mike's parents, with help from NEMX officials, will choose next year's
lucky rider from the125 C group.
Mike's parents have been in touch with the MILLSAPS TRAINING FACILITY in Cairo GA. and have a gift certificate that gives a rider 1 week of training in the memory of Mike Doherty jr. We hope to carry this award forward for years to come in MIKE’s name for he loved this sport of motocross and the NEMX organization.

MY SON RACES WITH MICHEAL'S LITTLE BROTHER MATT IN THE 65C7-9 CLASS IN THE NEMX SERIES. THE 2009 YEAR WAS MY SONS FIRST YEAR IN RACING HE IS ROCCO DIGIOVANNI IV #110 AGE 10. ONE THING I LIKE TO SAY IS THAT THE DOHERTY'S WERE ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE WE GOT TO KNOW. THEY ARE THE NICEST PEOPLE, MY SON LOOKS FORWARD TO RIDING WITH MATT FOR A COUPLE OF REASON: AT THE BEGINING OF THE SESON MY SON AND MATT SEEM TO BE TOGETHER IN THE PACK, THEN HALF SEASON MATT WAS WAY OUT IN FRONT OF ROCCO, I WOULD SAY TO MATT'S FATHER WHAT HAPPENED, HIS ANSWER WAS "I DON'T KNOW HE WOKE UP ONE DAY AND HE WAS FLYING ON THE TRACK" I'LL NEVER FORGET THIS, MATT'S DAD SAID ONE DAY ROCCO'S GOING TO WAKE UP WHEN HE DOES BE THERE TO SUPPORT HIM, I WILL SAY THAT I WILL DO.
